3 Things You Need to Do in the New Year
Congratulations, you made it through another 4th quarter and holiday season! As a nonprofit leader or fundraiser, it’s one of your busiest and most stressful times—and just getting through is an accomplishment.
But what should you do now?
Here are 3 things that you should do to help start the year on a strong fundraising note:
- Thank your donors. January is a great time to reach out to your donors- especially new ones who joined over the holidays- to say thank you and connect with them. But don’t just thank them. Check out our tips on how to take your thanks to the next level.
- Reflect on what worked and what didn’t work from the last year. This is the best time because it’s slow-er (the work never really stops), and things are fresher in your mind. Once you know why you think something did better or worse, you can use that to plan this year’s appeals. Find out how here.
- Don’t forget to ask. Yes, the holidays are over. Yes, some of your donors gave last month. But don’t be afraid to ask them for a gift in January. Show them that your organization is still doing good work and needs haven’t stopped. Still not convinced?
And remember, it’s never too late to do any of these things. Even if you missed doing these items in the first quarter, you can still do them! If you aren’t sure where to start, feel free to chat with us! Email us at: howdy@oneicity.com or find us on twitter at @oneicity
