The end of the year is when most people give. So like most non-profits, you probably reached out to your donors to ask for gifts during this time. Maybe you even had a special year-end campaign or matching opportunity. But as one year ends and another begins, have you ever asked yourself:
“Is it too soon to ask again in January or February?”
The answer is simple: no.
Here are several reasons this time of year is a great time to reach out to your donors:
- New donors who joined you during the holidays might not be aware of all your programs or how they can be involved. And existing donors have probably forgotten one or two details.
- You know that the need doesn’t go away just because it’s January or February—in many cases it’s just as prevalent as during the holidays. Don’t hide that from your donors. Your non-profit continues to help people and do good year round, not just during the holidays. Show your donors that their gifts are needed and how they can continue to make an impact.
- The beginning of the year is one of the best times to ask donors to become monthly donors. Show them the outsized impact they can have by being specific about how their consistent giving makes a difference!
